Porsche has something of a reputation for building performance cars with powerful engines, but this one is a little different. The all-new Porsche Taycan is its first all-electric sports car and in true Porsche fashion it throws out some impressive numbers
It all started when the Taycan tackled what Porsche is calling its triple endurance run. This included 26 successive runs from zero to 124 mph on a single battery charge, covering 2,128 miles in 24 hours at the Nardo track, and finally the Nürburgring in Germany. There it set a new record for an all-electric, four-door car by completing the course in 7 minutes and 42 seconds.
Just before its debut, Porsche pulled off one more jaw-dropping feat with the Taycan. They took it to the USS Hornet for a 0-90 mph run across the deck. Professional racer Shea Holbrook used the car’s launch control to accelerate to 90.58 mph in just 422 feet. She then brought the car to a full stop, all in just 10.17 seconds.
Now the Porsche Taycan has made its official world debut in Niagara Falls, Canada revealing even more impressive numbers. At the top of the list is charging time because no one wants to sit around and wait for their car to charge.

It’s important to know that any EV charges more quickly when its battery is low and you first plug it in to charge. You’ll get the initial charge at a faster rate than you will that last bit to get to a full 100 percent.
The Porsche Taycan can get up 80 percent of its full charge in 22.5 minutes. That’s the majority of its charge in less time than it takes to stop for lunch. While we know the Taycan charges quickly, what we don’t know is its total range on a full charge because official EPA numbers are still pending.
When it’s charged and ready, The Taycan delivers serious performance. Power comes from a 93 kWh battery and an electric motor at both the front and rear axle to provide all-wheel drive.
Use launch control and it gives you 626 lb-ft of torque in the Taycan Turbo and 774 lb-ft of torque in the Taycan Turbo S. That works out to 0-60 mph times of 3.0 seconds and 2.6 seconds respectively.

Stopping power comes from Porsche Surface Coated Brakes with a tungsten carbide coating or Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes. Both are internally ventilated and you can rest assured that the Taycan will quickly and confidently come to a stop when you hit the brakes.
The Porsche Taycan is set to have a starting price of $153,310 with the Taycan Turbo S coming in at $187,610. It’s more expensive than other electric vehicles, but this isn’t just any electric vehicle. This is an EV with the driving dynamics of a Porsche, which makes it something unique and worth a premium.
